Learning to Fly: Lessons from Peter

Disney’s magic transcends mere visual aesthetics and surpasses memorable melodies; I believe its true beauty is defined by the poignant gems of wisdom embedded within each fairytale.

This excerpt is from an all-time favourite Disney movie of mine (hence the pseudonym ;) ) :

This won’t do… what’s the matter with you?

All it takes is faith and trust

Oh! And something I forgot-dust!

DUST?

Yup…

Just a little bit of pixie dust :)

From dust we came, and to dust we will return, but we are all capable of soaring to the highest of heights, if we believe and trust!

In my humble opinion

Everyone’s entitled to carve out their own personal view on life. I used to think that a person’s temperament was naturally inexorable. In other words, if you think the glass is half-empty, it’s jolly well going to remain half-empty no matter how many times He brandishes a proverbial water jug in your face.

Well, I don’t think like that anymore. None of us are bound to live in a certain manner or behave in a certain way, because we all have the freedom of Choice. One therefore chooses to be either an optimist or a pessimist. As best as I can, I’m going to try to emulate the former, because frankly, being depressed all the time gets extremely draining after a while.

When I wake up every morning, I will be thankful for a new day, a fresh start and the many reasons I have to to be contented with my life :)

As far as introductions go, I’ll try to keep mine short and sweet. I’m a 19 year old History undergraduate and have just embarked on a gap year from university. My reason for staking out this little patch of web-land is to chronicle my thoughts and opinions on matters as they come and go during my 12-month sojourn (and perhaps beyond if I manage to sustain this effort). I keep a personal handwritten journal apart from this, but there’s a certain attraction to having one’s views being aired in the public sphere!

I am a child of God :) Journeying through life with Him is exhilarating, though certainly not always progressive! There have been many moments of conflict and many more to come, no doubt, but I believe He’s teaching me to live in His grace a little more each day.

The time is now 8.23 a.m. Breakfast and the new day await. Happy Deepaavali, everyone!
